Purpose

The Associate Dean – Digital Marketing provides strategic academic leadership for digital marketing programmes, ensuring excellence in teaching, student outcomes, and curriculum relevance. The role is responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards set by the Office for Students (OfS) and the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), while aligning provision with industry needs and institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership across digital marketing programmes, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Design, review, and enhance curriculum in line with industry trends (SEO, PPC, analytics, AI in marketing, social media strategy).
  • Ensure all programmes meet regulatory requirements and quality benchmarks set by the Office for Students and the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education.
  • Lead on quality assurance processes including programme validation, review, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor student outcomes (retention, progression, achievement) in line with OfS expectations and institutional KPIs.
  • Manage, support, and develop academic staff to ensure effective delivery and professional growth.
  • Oversee assessment strategies to ensure fairness, consistency, and academic integrity.
  • Lead on student experience initiatives, including engagement, satisfaction (e.g., NSS-style feedback), and academic support.
  • Develop and maintain industry partnerships to enhance employability, placements, and guest lectures.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, academic boards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure effective use of VLEs, CRM systems, and digital tools to support teaching and student tracking.
  • Support student recruitment activities such as open days, applicant interviews, and marketing initiatives.
  • Stay current with sector developments, including OfS policies, QAA Quality Code, and emerging digital marketing trends.

Requirements

  • Ideally minimum 15 years of experience in education or training, preferably within higher education or professional learning environments
  • PhD in a related field
  • Ideally minimum 10 years of experience at a senior leadership level
  • Leadership or management qualification (e.g., CMI/ILM Level 5 or above, MA/MSc)
  • Teaching qualification (PGCert, SFHEA or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire academic or training teams
  • Strong track record in curriculum development, quality assurance, and improving learner outcomes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to research-informed and practice-based teaching, staff development, and inclusion
  • Experience managing resources, workforce planning, and programme deliver
  • Ability to represent the organisation externally and build partnerships with healthcare providers, employers, and sector stakeholders 

Salaries and Benefits

  • Travel may be required; all expenses reimbursed
