About the role
As a Research Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the efficient and safe operation of an interdisciplinary Biotechnology and Control laboratory in the Department of Engineering Science. In this world-leading research environment your work would contribute to research efforts tackling pressing global challenges in areas from the fight against antimicrobial resistance to sustainable biomanufacturing. You will work alongside a team of academics, postdoctoral researchers, and students, collectively with decades of experience applying cutting edge methods to understand and engineer biological systems and play a key role in designing and operating the lab as it grows, creating an environment that facilitates excellence in engineering science research.
About you
We are seeking candidates with experience in biotechnological laboratory work, who wish to gain experience working with unique experimental techniques and technologies developed by the team. Your key responsibilities will include organisation and management of laboratory running and resources, including raising purchase orders and requisitions, support in preparing and conducting laboratory experimental work, training new laboratory members in use of standard protocols and equipment, planning and monitoring of safe working practices, and other general laboratory management tasks.
