About the role

The Finance Administrator is responsible for a range of financial accounting and reporting activities, including the monthly reconciliation of key control, investment, and loan accounts, and the investigation of significant balance‑sheet variances. You will support the preparation of the University’s annual financial statements and contribute to maintaining the financial integrity of donation and endowment balances by managing ledgers, preparing reconciliations, loading budgets, and responding to queries from Schools and the Development Office.

The post provides operational support across treasury management, including preparing the daily cash position, placing approved deals, processing bank payments, and maintaining account mandates with counterparties. It also offers cover for quarterly VAT returns and reviews overseas invoices for reverse‑charge requirements.

About you

You should be self-motivated with high service standards, someone who is a good communicator, with strong analytical skills.

You should have experience of reconciling a variety of control accounts and experience of budget setting and monitoring.

You able to work under pressure with accuracy and speed with strong interpersonal and team working skills

About our Division

The Finance Division is led by the Director of Finance who reports directly to the Vice Chancellor. We employ some 80 staff who provide high quality financial and commercial services which support both the day to day running of our schools, services, and the development and delivery of the University’s strategic aims.

Our staff work in partnership with academic, professional service colleagues, and students to understand their priorities and needs. We maintain efficient and effective services, systems, and processes, assist in identifying and exploiting commercial and strategic opportunities, manage financial risk and improve ‘spending power’ through negotiation of favourable commercial terms. We work hard to equip staff across the University with financial capability and confidence to ensure that the University makes the best use of resources for our students and research partners.
