Biological Services provide facilities, services, and advice for all research scientists within King's College London who need to carry out research using animals. Such work is ethically reviewed, carefully regulated, and kept to a minimum within the overall objectives of advancing knowledge in biomedical research.
 
The Genome Editing and Embryology Core (GEEC) Facility was established by Biological Services at King’s College London in 2016. The goal of the facility is to provide state-of-the-art services for the design and production of genome-edited human and mouse pluripotent stem cell lines and animal models. Applications are invited for the position of Laboratory Technician (Grade 4).

About the role

The post holder will assist in the generation of genome-edited stem cell lines for both in vitro studies, and for the generation of new genetically altered mice, and as such will be expected to have an excellent knowledge in the culturing and genetic modification of both mouse and human pluripotent stem cells. In addition, the post holder will help support the facilities molecular biology work, including gDNA extraction, PCR, and DNA construct generation as part of the generation and validation of genetically altered mouse lines.
 
The work of Biological Services at King’s College London is underpinned by the 3R’s (replacement, reduction and refinement), and the post holder will also have the opportunity to participate in the facilities research and development program in this area.
 
This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
