Clinical Skills Resource Centre Assistant Technician
This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis to cover a secondment until December 2026.
The starting salary will be from £28,029 on Grade C, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
Summary of the role
This full-time post is available within the University of Exeter, Clinical Skills Resource Centre.
The primary function of this role is to provide technical support for the teaching activities of the Clinical and Biomedical Sciences within the Clinical Skills Resource Centre (CSRC) and simulated Nursing ward at the Heavitree hospital site.
The role holder will work in conjunction with teaching staff and other members of the Technical Strategy and Operations team in delivering a safe and efficient working environment for teaching of undergraduate students. The Clinical Skills Assistant Technician will work with the Technical Operations Manager to oversee and organise the BMBS and Nursing programme requirements as well as other programmes that use the CSRC ad hoc. The role holder will guide and work with another Clinical Skills Assistant Technician to provide essential hands-on support for the practical skills-based learning of undergraduate students within the simulated Nursing Ward and Clinical Skills Resource Centre.
The CSRC Technical Strategy and Operations team work on a rota basis to cover teaching and allow time for set up for the following day. The rota times can vary but will be between 8am – 7pm. The post is full-time (1.0 FTE), rota hours covering 36.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
We are looking for an individual with exceptional communication and time management skills, who will provide professional technical support to staff and postgraduate students in an education environment consisting of a simulated Hospital setting. You must be able to work independently, using your initiative to tackle any problems, whilst having the confidence to work collaboratively with technical staff in the Clinical Skills Resource Centre plus other teams within the Medical School and across the University.
This role requires movement of some larger pieces of medical equipment meaning a good use of manual handling. Training and support will be provided.
