Salary: The full-time equivalent salary for this position is £45,091 per annum, equating to £18,036 per annum for this part-time role.

Contract Type: 12-month, fixed-term contract starting on 04 August 2026 and ending 31 July 2027

Hours: Part-time (equivalent to 16 hours per week). These hours are inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break each day. Your hours of work will be agreed with the line manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the faculty as Unit Leader of a brand-new course at London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS). A globally-oriented postgraduate programme, it blends creative practice, pedagogy, and critical inquiry, preparing artists and educators to design inclusive curricula.

The Unit Leader will oversee the delivery and implementation of one or more units on the MA Creative Dance Education programme.

Job Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of the professional field of dance education, relevant discourse, and contextual research and/or creative practice within educational contexts.
  • Excellent differentiated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of unit/module leadership at postgraduate-level.
  • Experience teaching in postgraduate, professional, or vocational settings, with evidence of practical outcomes and alignment with quality assurance standards. Postgraduate Degree level qualification in a relevant area or equivalent industry experience.
  • Fosters positive relationships with students.
  • Works effectively within a team and independently.
  • Strategically manages resources to achieve short and long-term objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality student-centred teaching and learning, as appropriate to unit plans and areas of expertise.
  • Take part in assessment panels and processes and provide timely, clear and constructive feedback on student work.
  • Act as Unit Leader, overseeing the delivery and implementation of assigned units, ensuring learning outcomes, teaching activities.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of placement-based learning where relevant to the unit.
  • Undertake appropriate training (e.g. Mental Health First Aid, Safeguarding, Prevent). Contribute to recruitment and admissions activity, including teaching, interviews, and outreach events.
  • Contribute to the wider research culture across the The Place through practice,
  • publication, or knowledge exchange activity.
  • Engage in continuing professional development to support teaching and practice.
