The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School was established in 1831 and has played an integral role in the life of King's since the university was formed almost 200 years ago.
The School is based in the East Wing of Somerset House on King's Strand Campus in London. Our location means that we are in the heart of legal London with the Houses of Parliament, government departments, the Royal Courts of Justice, the Inns of Court and the offices of global law firms all within walking distance.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Events Officer to provide excellent end-to-end support for our external events portfolio. This role is suitable for someone with excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. Interpersonal skills, the ability to work with different stakeholders and being able to adapt to changing priorities are all crucial for this role.
We run in-person, online and hybrid events and the post holder will need to be comfortable with managing the process from end-to-end, including catering, AV provision and event promotion.
This role requires on-campus attendance to support our events programme. We are looking for someone with a pro-active, can-do attitude and the role will suit someone who thrives on working with people.
Excellent organisation skills, staying calm under pressure and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines is essential.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) post and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent significant work experience
2. At least one year’s experience in event operations, with experience of organising and delivering in-person, online and hybrid events
3. Excellent IT skills, including MS Office programmes
4. Highly organised and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines
5. Strong administrative skills
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, with a clear focus on delivering excellent customer service
7. Willingness to occasionally work outside of normal working hours including evenings and weekends
8. Knowledge of using online registration platforms, web content management systems and social media to effectively plan, market and promote events.
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of working with complex material to write accessible promotional copy
2. Experience in confidentiality and the handling of sensitive data in line with GDPR guidelines.
3. Experience of working with audio-visual teams to brief requirements and troubleshoot any issues
4. Experience of working within the Higher Education sector
5. Experience of using Microsoft Teams and Dynamics platforms to run events, registrations and track customer engagement
