The University of Nottingham has an exceptional global and local platform. This draws on our roots in the city of Nottingham and East Midlands and our pioneering global identity, with campuses in the UK, Malaysia and China.
We seek a leader to join our University Executive Board in the newly created role of Pro Vice-Chancellor, Global and Regional Engagement. Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor, this position unites two critical external portfolios for the first time. This high-profile role will oversee the university’s ambitions in relation to our global engagement, regional impact and civic mission.
You will provide inspirational leadership to strengthen our role as an anchor institution within our region. You will deepen partnerships with regional, cultural, health, business and community stakeholders, and advance our global reputation, partnerships and international footprint. You will own both the university's global and regional strategies, acting as a senior ambassador with government, cultural and industry bodies and international agencies. You will ensure the university's three campuses operate with additive and synergistic value as a single global institution.
With effective interpersonal and ambassadorial skills, you will develop relationships at ministerial, governmental, diplomatic and sector leadership levels. You will have a track record of senior leadership in roles requiring significant external representation, relationship-building and institutional diplomacy, whether in higher education, government, the diplomatic service or other complex organisations.
You will also possess a proven ability to identify, secure and grow strategic partnerships that enhance reputation, research collaboration and commercial value. You will lead with cultural intelligence and an inclusive approach, and communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact across a wide range of senior stakeholders.
The University of Nottingham is a world-class, research-intensive institution and member of the Russell Group, ranked in the UK's Top 20 and the world's Top 100 (QS World University Rankings 2026).
