Technical Officer (Speech & Language Therapy)

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join Technical Services as a Technical Officer specialising in Speech and Language Therapy.

As one of the largest providers of allied health professionals in the region, we offer a diverse range of award-winning and innovative undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. The Department of Health Professions at Manchester Metropolitan University delivers Speech and Language Therapy programmes at under-graduate and pre-registration master's level. 

Technical Services underpin a wide variety of academic programmes, we deliver this support via specialist laboratories, workshops, studios and clinics. Technical staff provide a high level of expertise and technical knowledge, playing a key role in supporting students in their studies and project work.

We also provide support for research, consultancy, and knowledge exchange activities. We are a forward-looking service, committed to a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.

The Role: 

A broad theoretical and practical knowledge of Speech and Language therapy to support programme delivery and research activity.

• Develop, prepare and maintain resources to support the programme delivery.
• Support practical workshops and teaching sessions through inductions, equipment set-up, and live demonstrations of resources.
• Detailed knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Dysphagia and Phonetics resources.
• Maintain specialist equipment and specialist teaching environments including research control & clinic rooms, and simulated practice areas used for assessments, practical and research activity.
• Management of clinical assessment tools, speech analysis software, live streaming/ recording equipment.
• Collaborate with the wider team to support, laboratory set ups and simulation delivery to the wider Allied Health programmes of study.
