Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract

The University of Greater Manchester is a “Teaching Intensive, Research Informed, Assessment Enabled” higher education institution whose distinctive high quality, student-focussed, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes attract students from all over the world.

We are looking to appoint a Charter Manager Degree Apprentice to our Outreach Practitioner role within the Foundation Programmes team, working predominantly on the Entry to Higher Education Academic Programme (EHEAP), which is a gateway and access course serving as a feeder route into undergraduate programmes. The outreach practitioner is critical to the marketing, administration, recruitment and conversion of the students onto EHEAP course and then onto further study within the University of Greater Manchester.

The Outreach Practitioner post holder will undertake crucial outreach work to identify the barriers that exist for disadvantaged members of the local community, and care experienced people, and ways in which these might be overcome, in order for them to successfully complete EHEAP and progress to further study. They will work with internal and external stakeholders to enable potential students in areas of deprivation, those with non-traditional education journeys or those who are care experienced, to have improved access to education, employment and training, experience stability in their lives and feel safe and secure, receive improved access to health support, and achieve financial stability, all of which will be the result of accessing higher education study.

Experience of involvement in projects, liaising with differing services and people as well as working independently would be advantageous, along with a driving license, as the role will involve travelling to and from external stakeholder premises.

The successful post holder must have GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, and relevant Level 3 qualifications, they will need to be IT proficient, able to communicate professionally in a variety of formats and be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships.

The Degree Apprenticeship Outreach Practitioner Role will allow the successful applicant to complete a business degree and gain a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA). This is a 4-year programme and the contract is a 48-month fixed term to enable the completion of the course.

Apprenticeship start date is 28th August 2026 – there is an online induction on this date which must be attended.

Successful applicants will be required to complete all enrolment, application and onboarding processes needed to join the apprenticeship programme to meet the stated start dates and prove their right to work in the UK prior to the commencement of their employment.
