St Catherine’s is one of the newest and largest Colleges within the University of Oxford, with a student population of approximately 1000. The College is a charity and its conference business forms an essential part of its funding arrangements.
We are seeking to appoint a Conference & Events Manager on a fixed term basis (up to 12 months) to cover a period of maternity leave. The post holder will play a key role both in helping to develop the conference business and facilitating the delivery of an unrivalled level of service to the College’s conference clients.
Reporting to the Head of Conferencing, Events & Accommodation, the post holder will be responsible for interaction with conference clients at every level. They will jointly drive and administer all aspects of the conference activity – from marketing and initial negotiation, arranging the availability of facilities, resources and staff, issuing contracts, tracking costs, to issuing invoices.
The role will also require continuous analysis of the business market and uptake to inform initiatives and targeted marketing to nurture existing and seek new business; this would also inform future conference strategy and delivery.
The salary is set within the range £37,500 - £42,000 per annum pro rata, comprising 35 hours per week. In addition, benefits include car parking on site, a generous leave allowance, meals without charge whilst on duty, season ticket loans for travel and free use of the College gym.

The successful candidate will have experience of conference/event sales and management for a large venue. They will be a positive and enthusiastic individual with outstanding written and verbal communication skills and committed to putting the needs of our customers first. This is a challenging role that requires excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills, an eye for detail and the ability to adopt a flexible approach. A familiarity with Oxford colleges would also be advantageous.
