Project Manager

Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for: 

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to manage a variety of work packages that form part of the current EPSRC Prosperity Partnership funded research in the Caterpillar Innovation & Research Centre (I&RC). 

The £8m project runs until September 2030 and focusses on delivering research to replace conventional fuels with lower carbon alternatives for off-road, heavy-duty power systems. We have a team of around 25 academics, technical support staff and researchers who will help deliver this work. The successful candidate will help ensure that we run to time and budget, while being able to offer creative solutions when obstacles are faced.

About the Department 

The Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering is part of the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (AACME). AACME consists of three exceptional departments, evidenced by high league table rankings, strong student recruitment at high average entry tariffs, well established partnerships with world leading companies, supported by intensive research activity that is mostly world leading or internationally excellent. 

About You

You will be an experienced project or programme management professional with:

• Proven experience managing complex projects
• Strong understanding & practical application of project management best practice, including risk and issue management & governance
• Demonstrable ability to manage financial forecasting, performance reporting, compliance with University and funder requirements & multi-stakeholder delivery
• Excellent leadership, communication & resilience skills coupled with a solutions-focused approach
• Experience of research management systems (we use WorkTribe) & working within a higher education or research environment will enable you to succeed in this role.
