About the role

This is a highly visible, student-facing position where you’ll play a central role in embedding employability into the student experience. Based within our open-plan Career Studio, you’ll provide tailored careers guidance, deliver engaging workshops, and work closely with academic and employer partners to ensure students are fully equipped for the world of work.

You’ll act as a trusted careers specialist for Business & Hospitality, delivering high-quality, practical support through:

  • Face-to-face careers guidance within a dynamic, front-facing Career Studio environment
  • One-to-one coaching and group workshops tailored to specific industry pathways
  • Designing and delivering innovative, sector-focused employability programmes
  • Embedding employability within the curriculum through close collaboration with academic teams
  • Supporting a diverse student population, including mature and widening participation learners, with flexible and inclusive guidance

Alongside student support, you’ll strengthen employer engagement by:

  • Building relationships with relevant employers and alumni to create opportunities
  • Coordinating guest speakers, placements, internships, and live industry projects
  • Supporting careers fairs, networking events, and employer-led activity aligned to your subject area

You’ll also contribute to the development of a high-performing service by:

  • Supporting the implementation of processes, systems, and best practice approaches
  • Monitoring engagement and outcomes, using data to inform improvements
  • Developing digital resources to enhance accessibility and reach

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who is passionate about student success and understands how to translate academic study into career outcomes.

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Professional qualification in Careers Guidance, Coaching, HR or related field
  • Experience within careers/employability (ideally in higher education) or at least 2 years in recruitment or learning & development
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging workshops and career coaching

Desirable:

  • Industry insight within Business or Hospitality
  • Experience supporting diverse, mature, or widening participation students
  • Experience developing digital or online employability resources

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence working across academic and employer stakeholders
  • A proactive, adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment
  • Sensitivity to the needs of students from a wide range of backgrounds

What to expect

  • Occasional evening or weekend working to support events
  • Travel between campuses and external partners where required
