We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Historic Conservation and Building Pathology (part time, 0.6FTE) at grade 10/11, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

Situated in the heart of Oxford, this post is based in the School of the Built Environment, a lively and multidisciplinary environment with a strong tradition of excellence in teaching underpinned by world-class research and strong industry links in the professional fields of construction, real estate, planning and urban design.

We are looking for candidates who can offer a strong academic or working knowledge of the construction industry, allowing our students to learn from academic/industry experts.

You will be responsible for:

  • teaching on historic conservation and construction programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • pursuing research and knowledge transfer activities
  • seeking external funding for research and knowledge transfer
  • supervising higher degree students
  • leading programmes and curriculum development
  • leading the development of new educational initiatives

You should have: 

  • a good first degree and/or post-graduate degree in planning, historic conservation, building pathology or related building surveying disciplines
  • substantive industry or teaching experience in historic conservation, repair and maintenance
  • the potential to develop and sustain externally funded research and knowledge transfer work
  • the potential or track record of publishing in high quality refereed journals
  • the ability to teach and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • the ability to develop and lead new programmes
  • the ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships
  • experience of successfully working as part of a multi-professional team
