Salary: £6,223 (current rate) for a 6-hour Lectureship for the period of appointment.

Merton College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Computer Science for the period 6 January 2027 until 31 March 2027.

The College would be willing to consider appointing two Lecturers able together to deliver the full 6-hour per week teaching requirement. The salary for a Lectureship of less than 6 hours will be pro-rated to the figure above. Preference will be given to candidates able to teach for the full 6 weighted hours per week

The main duties of the post will be: to teach undergraduates studying Computer Science for up to 6 weighted hours per week in full term, to share in the organisational responsibility and administration for undergraduate degrees involving Computer Science, and to provide study skills and pastoral support.

The successful candidate will have a strong research background in Computer Science, as evidenced by having completed, or being close to completion of a doctorate. The ability to teach successfully the required topics and to be an effective and inspiring teacher of Computer Science to undergraduates of high ability are essential. Teaching is required for the following papers

  • (i) Prelims (first-year) Design & Analysis of Algorithms, Imperative Programming, Continuous Mathematics
  • (ii) Part A (second-year) Algorithms & Data Structures.
