Vacancy for Principal Examiners for:

Foundation Certificate FC4 Design and Copyright Law for the 2026 examination session

The PEB Examination Committees comprise the Chief Examiner and the Principal Examiners.

The Chief Examiner supervises and supports the setting of examination question papers and the marking of examination answer scripts by the Principal Examiners and Marking Examiners.

Each Principal Examiner sets an examination question paper, marks the examination answer scripts and, if required, supervises Marking Examiners.

Principal Examiners receive training and full written instructions on setting the question paper and mark scheme, and on the answer script marking processes and procedures. Attendance in person is required at a number of meetings per year. The exact times of these meetings are arranged by doodle poll to suit attendees.

The FC4 Principal Examiner will use the syllabus here to produce the 2026 examination question paper and mark scheme. S/he will mark the examination answer scripts. Attendance in person is required at a number of meetings per year. The exact times of these meetings are arranged by doodle poll to suit attendees.

FC Principal Examiner Remuneration (2026 rates)

£650 to set the paper

£60 per script marked

£350 per day to attend meetings (pro rata where half day).

Skills and experience required for the role of Principal Examiner

Essential

• Experience as an IP practitioner in the relevant area
• Recent relevant experience of professional education and training
• Good written, presentation and oral skills
• Ability to meet deadlines.

Desirable

• Experience as a UK IPReg-registered IP practitioner in a relevant field
• Recent relevant examining experience

Term of appointment: 3 years
