About us:
This an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and long-running MRC funded research programme led by Professor Thalia Eley, based at the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre, part of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London.
About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Psychology graduate, keen to get involved in research.
This post is part of a 5-year MRC funded project led by Prof Thalia Eley, focussed on understanding risk factors for anxiety and depression in the early thirties. The post-holder will work as a Research Assistant with Prof Eley in the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre and will be a member of her Emotional Development, Intervention and Treatment (EDIT) Lab.
The post-holder will support assessment of mental health and medical record linkage in the Twins Early Development Study (TEDS), led by Prof Eley. The TEDS team have followed thousands of twin pairs since birth, tracking their emotional, cognitive and behavioural development.
The post will involve taking an active role in the generation and analysis of TEDS data. The post-holder will oversee some and support other aspects of the day-to-day running of TEDS. This includes writing annual newsletters, managing ongoing assessments, communicating with participants, holding focus groups, and working with the TEDS database manager. The post-holder will report to Prof Eley, but will also work with other research staff and students working on TEDS including the database manager, Research Assistants, PhD students, postdocs and other TEDS Investigators including Prof Robert Plomin.
The post may also involve working other projects beside TEDS run my Prof Eley. Good time management, attention to detail, communication skills and organisation will be essential. The successful applicant will have good quantitative skills. There will be scope for the post-holder to become actively involved in research - conducting literature reviews, performing analyses, and publishing manuscripts. We are particularly interest in hearing from anyone who would potentially want to enrol on a part-time PhD with Prof Eley as supervisor. Enthusiasm for science, and for psychology/genetics in particular, is essential.
The EDIT Lab strives to be a diverse research environment that is open and welcoming to all. Please see the Group Culture tab for more information on this.
This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st Sept 2027.
