A vacancy has arisen within the King’s Forensics-Mass Spectrometry Services (KF-MSS) laboratory, King’s Forensics in the Department of Analytical, Environmental & Forensic Sciences, in the School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences working in the Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry team.

About The Role

The Analyst post is based within the King’s Forensics-Mass Spectrometry Services (KF-MSS), King’s Forensics in the Department of Analytical, Environmental & Forensic Sciences, in the School of Cancer & Pharmaceutical Sciences working in the Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry team. The post holder will be familiar with chromatographic-mass spectrometry-based analysis and have laboratory experience in bioanalytical or clinical testing. 

The KF-MSS runs a routine analytical testing service for clinical trials involving the administration of cannabidiol (CBD) and the detection of endocannabinoids as well as Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and metabolites.  Other requests to support research within and beyond the university for the analysis of small molecules is also undertaken. The post holder will therefore need a meticulous approach to work and understand the importance of maintaining quality standards within a structured laboratory unit.

Under the supervision of the Principal Analyst (LC-Technologies), the post holder will prepare biological samples for analysis in accordance with established methodology.  This will include booking and splitting samples as they arrive in the laboratory.  Staff at this level are required to carry out a range of activities using standard laboratory operating procedures (SOPs) and working to always comply with the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). The post holder will need to be organised and proficient in routine laboratory skills and be able to work alone as well as in a team. Training to achieve the necessary competencies will be provided by qualified staff.

This post is entirely based on campus. 

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
