We are seeking a Lecturer in Visual Communication in Fashion to join our dynamic team who will contribute to the students' educational journey, bringing their experience to inspire the next generation of fashion talent. We seek academics with expertise in branding, editorial design, typography, colour theory, print production, motion graphics, UX/UI, Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Blender and the impact culture, sustainability, emerging technologies and ethics has on fashion communication.

About the role:

As a Lecturer in Visual Communication in Fashion, you will contribute to teaching and student experience across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and should have expertise in teaching visual communication including but not limited to: graphic designing a wide variety of visual communication assets for on and offline channels such, web, social media, printed materials such as out of home and publications. Advanced skills of the Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Blender and Figma are required. A knowledge and or experience of using emerging technologies and software such as generative AI, AR/VR, digital platforms such as web 3, to create visual communication assets would be advantageous. Your experience does not have to specifically be from a fashion background, although we would seek assurance through the application process that you could apply your broader graphic design expertise in a fashion context.

The post holder will also be expected to develop their education practice through teaching and learning innovation and scholarship that aligns with the university's education strategy.

Essential Skills:

  • A good first degree in a relevant discipline, together with either postgraduate qualification(s), equivalent professional experience, or evidence of professional practice and/or scholarly contribution relevant to the role.
  • A PGCE, Certificate of Education, PGCLTHE or membership of the Higher Education Academy (or commitment to obtain within three years of appointment).
  • Expertise within visual communication including but not limited to graphic design for online and offline channels, and current software such as Adobe Creative Suite.

Desirable:

  • Membership of relevant professional bodies, demonstrating professional standing.
  • Knowledge or desire to expand learning in AI/emerging technology and software driven visual fashion communication.
