This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic research group, led by Dr Shin-Yi (Chloe) Chiou, investigating innovative community-based exercise interventions to promote physical activity, functional independence, and overall health in people with spinal cord injury (SCI).
About the role
The role offers the chance to contribute to impactful research that combines rehabilitation, technology, and community engagement to improve long-term health and wellbeing for individuals living with SCI.
The role requires someone who enjoys working closely with people, has an interest in exercise and physical activity, and is comfortable engaging with participants with neurological conditions in community, home, and online settings.
The post holder will conduct research assessments remotely, in participants homes, and at NHS or community sites across the UK. They will be expected to be flexible to accommodate participants needs for attending the intervention sessions.
About you
You will be a motivated and proactive researcher contributing to an exciting programme of research focused on community-based exercise and rehabilitation interventions for people with SCI. You will support the delivery of innovative research projects, including participant engagement, data collection and analysis, and dissemination activities within an interdisciplinary team.
You should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in physiotherapy, exercise science, rehabilitation, or a related health profession. A postgraduate degree in a health-related subject is desirable. Candidates with a background in physiotherapy or exercise delivery for adults with neurological conditions are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods involving human participants and clinical populations, including behavioural data collection (e.g., fitness testing, questionnaires, focus groups) and appropriate data analysis methods. Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills are essential, along with an understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
A DBS clearance is required for this role.
