About the role

The School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Leicester is seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Computer Science to contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role focuses on teaching within computer science, software engineering and cyber security, supporting large student cohorts through lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate project work. You will also act as a personal tutor, providing academic guidance and supporting students throughout their studies.

Alongside teaching, you will contribute to the ongoing development of course materials, assessment and marking, and will engage with course review and quality assurance processes. You will work closely with colleagues within the School and across the University, share effective teaching practice, and participate in committees and academic activities as required. The role also supports continued professional development, including working towards Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, within a research-informed teaching environment.

About you

You will have completed a PhD by October 2026 in computer science or a closely related discipline, or have equivalent industry experience. You will bring experience of supporting high-quality teaching in higher education and demonstrate the ability to teach and supervise students across core and applied areas of computer science and information security. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

You will show enthusiasm for developing engaging curricula and supporting student learning, with the flexibility to take on a range of academic responsibilities. Experience of delivering lectures, tutorials, assessments and laboratory sessions, as well as familiarity with digital learning environments such as Blackboard or Moodle, would be advantageous.
