The role

Within the University, Finance Services is one of the biggest Professional Services divisions and the Post Award team sits within the Research Centre of Excellence.
The purpose of the Finance Assistant role is to provide administrative support the Research Centre of Excellence Post Award team who deliver strategic financial advice and support to Schools and Divisions. This includes completing administrative tasks relating to the post award management of research grants and other funding streams.
The University is currently offering hybrid working which means you will get more flexibility around working arrangements. Currently you would need to come into the office a minimum of once a week. There may be opportunities to work on campus on additional days, but this will depend on desk availability, the current arrangement offers excellent flexibility for staff.
What will you be doing?
In this role, you will work closely with the Assistant Accountants to provide support on various tasks during the life of a grant. This will include record keeping, updating our accounting systems to ensure charges are posted to the correct budget code and reviewing new grants as they are awarded. Regular monthly tasks will also be assigned to ensure system data is complete and accurate.
You will also need to take a customer focussed approach and be a point of contact for day-to-day administrative queries relating to invoicing and journals.
Other standard tasks include approving purchase orders and expense claims in the University accounting system.
