This is a permanent post as Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Equine Reproduction and Fertility based in the School of Veterinary Medicine, UCD.

The post sits within the “Section of Equine Clinical Studies, Diagnostic Imaging and Anaesthesia”, and the appointee will be expected to significantly enhance the existing team within that section.

Applicants must be in possession of a degree in veterinary medicine registrable with the Veterinary Council of Ireland (www.vci.ie)

The successful candidate will play an important role in the leadership and ongoing development of the equine reproduction and fertility discipline within the Section and the UCD Veterinary Hospital. In particular, the candidate will participate fully in and develop undergraduate teaching, including clinical teaching, in postgraduate residency supervision and training (as required), and in the equine reproduction and fertility service provided by the discipline in the UCD Veterinary Hospital. Additional teaching responsibilities in reproduction and fertility may also be required in the pre-clinical years of the UCD Veterinary Medicine programme.

It is expected that the successful candidate will lead the development of original research within the discipline, leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals and foster collaborations, both nationally and internationally.  The successful candidate will develop research collaborations within UCD, as well as exploring collaboration with external stakeholders within the national and international ‘One health’/Fertility community.

It is expected that clinical service and related instruction will contribute approximately 50% of the appointee's effort with the remainder being devoted to teaching, research and other scholarly activity. The appointee will participate in the provision of out-of-hours care for equine reproduction and fertility clinical case material.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
