The Maternal & Neonatal Immunology Group at City St George’s, University of London is seeking to appoint an outstanding a highly motivated Research Assistant/Senior Technician to contribute to a growing programme of translational vaccine research within the Institute for Infection and Immunity. 

The group conducts cutting-edge translational research focused on neonatal infections and maternal-neonatal vaccine responses, evaluating next-generation investigational vaccines. The laboratory operates under Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and Human Tissue Act (HTA) regulations and performs high-throughput immunological assays including flow cytometry, ELISA and multiplex immunoassays.

You will play a central role in supporting the establishment and operational delivery of this new research group. This includes contributing to assay development and optimisation, implementation of standard operating procedures, quality control processes, and ensuring high standards of laboratory compliance and organisation.

We welcome applications from candidates with previous experience in immunology laboratories using techniques such as flow cytometry, Luminex/BioPlex and ELISA, who are keen to develop their expertise within a translational academic research environment.

Key attributes of the successful applicant include:

  • Experience in immunological assays, including flow cytometry, ELISA, and multiplex platforms (Luminex/BioPlex).
  • Experience maintaining high assay quality standards and performing routine quality control checks.
  • Highly organised, with accurate sample tracking, data entry, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of laboratory health & safety; experience in regulated environments (GCLP/ISO) desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Proficient in data analysis (Excel; Prism, R, or STATA).
