We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Lecturer in Social Work (Teaching & Scholarship). This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of teaching on our social work postgraduate programmes, with a key focus on the AMHP, MA Social Work and CPD programmes. You will join a dynamic and inclusive environment committed to student-centred learning, partnership working and high-quality social work education.

You will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the design and delivery of social work education and related support in respect of teaching
  • Contributing directly to teaching and assessment on the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) programme, MA Social Work and other CPD provision
  • Providing effective student support via academic advisement
  • Contributing to links with external contacts such as other educational bodies, employers, and professional bodies to foster collaboration.

About You

We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate:

Essential Criteria:

  • An understanding of contemporary social work practice education for qualifying social work students and post-qualifying mental health AMHP students in England and Wales
  • Relevant recent experience of understanding the statutory AMHP role and its implementation in current practice
  • Demonstrable scholarship experience or potential to develop this
  • Relevant first and higher degrees (educated to MA/MSc level)
  • Current registration as a social worker with Social Work England

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of supporting students undertaking practice placements in practice agencies
  • Experience of working collaboratively with People with Lived Experience of social work
