Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Data Scientist for the Global Jet Watch Jet at Physics Department, University of Oxford.
The Global Jet Watch monitors the night sky with time-lapse spectroscopy to capture the dynamic universe with seven robotic observatories around the world to transform our scientific understanding of how the Cosmos works and inspire the next generation of young minds.
The successful candidate will report to the Principal Investigator Professor Katherine Blundell, the post holder will become part of the Global Jet Watch with responsibility for the verification and processing of the multiplicity of data streams from all its worldwide stations. In addition to system-wide monitoring and development, the post holder will be an active participant in the spectroscopic and photometric research programmes of the Global Jet Watch, and will provide guidance to less experienced members such as graduate and undergraduate students.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be close to completion in physics or a related field and have a strong background in analysing time-series data. Previous experience in the field of spectroscopic and photometric data will be an advantage.

This is a full-time post, fixed term for 12 months with possibility of extension.
