The Role

We are recruiting to the role of Student Casework Manager to join our collegiate and supportive Governance and Legal Office team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in ensuring fair, effective and legally compliant management of student casework including academic appeals, student complaints, student disciplinary and fitness to practise matters. The post-holder will report to the Head of Legal Services.

This is a complex and interesting role and requires an individual with highly developed communication and analytical skills, and who is an effective problem solver and negotiator. The post-holder will have experience of dealing with complex student casework and will be comfortable advising and influencing senior University staff.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the Student Casework Team and overseeing the delivery of a high-quality casework service to students and staff.
  • Leading the administration of academic appeals, student complaints, disciplinary and fitness to practise processes.
  • Advising senior colleagues on complex student casework matters and developing appropriate case management strategies.
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of casework policies, procedures and systems in line with sector best practice and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will have skills and experience in:

  • Managing complex student casework within a higher education or comparable regulatory environment.
  • Interpreting and applying policy, procedure and relevant legal principles with sound judgement and attention to detail.
  • Building effective working relationships and communicating confidently with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Leading and developing teams in a busy and deadline-driven environment
