We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative colleague with expertise in teaching Spanish as a second language to join our friendly and dynamic department for the academic year 2026-2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the Spanish language programme and will play an active role in supporting students’ academic development. You will be part of the department’s team of personal tutors and will contribute to departmental administration as appropriate. You will be involved in many aspects of departmental and School life, including participating in staff meetings, and contributing to schools’ visits and open days.
This is an opportunity to gain a range of teaching and administrative experience within a supportive department, with undergraduates from a variety of backgrounds. You will have previous experience of teaching at higher education level and native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish. You will be familiar with the UK undergraduate experience and prepared to support our lively and engaged body of undergraduate students both academically and as a personal tutor.
About You

You will have experience of teaching Spanish language in higher education and will be expected to teach and supervise undergraduate students to a high standard. There may also be opportunities to contribute to the cultural components of Hispanic Studies.
In addition, you will participate, as appropriate, in departmental and School-level administrative activities. Applicants should hold a postgraduate qualification in Hispanic Studies, Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, or a cognate field, and demonstrate an excellent command of both spoken and written Spanish and English.
