About the Role
Student Success Advisors (SSAs) play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, academic achievement, and community engagement. Working with approximately 30–35 students within assigned Care Teams, SSAs serve as mentors and trusted resources, providing guidance on academic, personal, and community matters. Reporting to the Student Success Manager, the role collaborates closely with academic and student life teams to create an inclusive environment aligned with Verto’s values of compassion, transformation, vulnerability, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Student Success
- Monitor academic engagement, attendance, progress, and accommodations.
- Provide first-level academic support and coordinate interventions when needed.
- Support course changes, withdrawals, academic planning, and post-Verto transfer pathways.
- Guide students through systems such as MyVerto, Canvas, and Cengage.
- Deliver programming aligned with the Verto Discovery model.
- Collaborate with headquarters on student success initiatives.
Community Building
- Create a welcoming, student-centred environment.
- Lead Care Team programming, including group meals and community-building activities.
- Encourage student leadership, club involvement, and engagement.
- Educate students on policies, procedures, safety expectations, and community standards.
- Maintain visibility through office hours, meetings, and events.
- Foster an inclusive community while maintaining confidentiality.
Administration & Crisis Response
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
- Maintain accurate records and complete reports on time.
- Use internal systems including Salesforce, Maxient, Canvas, and Google Workspace.
- Conduct wellbeing checks and health and safety inspections as required.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergencies.
- Support the resolution of behavioural concerns and policy violations.
- Refer students to counselling, tutoring, medical, or other support services when appropriate.
- Document incidents and follow up with students in crisis.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Proven experience supporting university students or young adults.
- Experience in mentoring, advising, coaching, or student-facing roles.
- Strong communication, empathy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work on-site and commute to central London within one hour.
