Central Saint Martins, UAL, is seeking a highly experienced academic to join us as Associate Dean Research (ADR), based at our Coal Drops Yard campus, Kings Cross, London.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape research at one of the world's most influential creative arts institutions.
As ADR, you will contribute to shaping the UAL Research and KE strategy and ensure its delivery across the College, working closely with the Dean of Research and Knowledge Exchange. You will use your experience to foster an inclusive, ethical, visible and enabling research environment, including through supporting communities of practice, research labs and groups and centres.
You will lead on supporting the growing PGR community at CSM, working closely with the UAL Doctoral School and you will draw on your own knowledge of the funding landscape to enable the college and its three constituent Schools to set and achieve ambitious and achievable research and impact goals. You will also play a key role in the delivery of REF 2029 at CSM and across UAL, drawing on your experience of REF leadership.
Alongside research leadership, you will maintain your own academic and/or artistic practice and support colleagues to do the same, contributing to a vibrant research and KE culture that reflects the College's distinctive creative mission.
About you
You will have a PhD or significant and demonstrable research experience and you will bring a strong track record in higher education, including understanding issues around PGR, research funding, and REF. An experienced leader and manager, you will have a proven ability to manage resources, influence strategy, and plan operational activities.
You will be an engaging, adaptable and accessible communicator. You will have experience building effective teams and cross-organisational networks, and will demonstrate a genuine commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
A record of research, scholarly activity or professional practice in your specialist area is essential, as is the ability to apply that expertise to develop and drive research across the institution.
If you have any general questions or have accessibility needs, please contact csm.staffrecruit@arts.ac.uk.
