This is an exciting opportunity for experienced EFL and EAP tutors to join Kings Foundations to teach on our Pre-sessional programmes in summer 2026.

This year there will be two 6-week programmes, one taught on campus and the other online. Both programmes follow the same approach and syllabus, with students attending live classes, lectures and tutorials.(Please note, online tutors will be required to attend an on-campus induction in London.)

You will work alongside friendly Kings tutors, teaching highly motivated students who are keen to develop their English language and academic literacy skills with you. For tutors new to EAP, training and support will be provided through our buddy scheme and on-course induction and CPD programme.

The role-holder will be expected to complete teaching, assessment & feedback, administration and pastoral duties to a high standard to ensure that the students on the programme receive the best possible student experience and progress onto their degree programmes able to fulfil their potential.

Successful candidates must be UK-based, have a UK bank account and be available to be on campus in central London for the first three days of induction; Wed 1st to Fri 3rd July.

Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience. We offer 7-week full-time contracts, with all contracts including a paid 5-day induction.

Please note that all King's teaching staff are required to have current enhanced DBS clearance. King's Foundations are able to facilitate this for candidates if they are offered and accept a contract before 18th May 2026. After this, unfortunately the time frame does not allow us to do so, so candidates will be expected to obtain this themselves.

Key responsibilities:

  • To deliver engaging teaching using communicative pedagogic approaches, as per requirements of the timetable and in line with on campus and online pre-sessional course norms.
  • To provide a high-quality student experience, including through the provision of timely, actionable feedback and advice.
  • To take responsibility for managing all aspects of teaching, assessment, administration and tutorials to the required standard.
  • To act as personal tutor to a group of students, the majority of whom will be postgraduates and from East Asia, for pastoral and academic support. NB. Personal tutors will have additional safeguarding duties for students who are under 18 support will be given for this.
  • To communicate with other EAP tutors, the pre-sessional coordination team and professional services staff in a professional, collaborative, collegiate manner to ensure the effective delivery of the pre-sessional programme(s).
  • To engage fully with internal and external quality assurance processes.
  • To strive for and promote excellence in teaching and learning as an individual and as a member of teaching teams.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties that may be requested by the Head of Pre-sessional & Short Courses or Pre-sessional Team.

  • This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent. Please make sure you are available for the entire period.

Essential criteria

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • TEFL-I status according to British Council accreditation guidelines. (eg Cambridge CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL)
  • Experience of planning and delivering successful on campus English language and skills lessons.
  • Experience of planning and delivering successful English language and skills lessons online.
  • Experience of assessing learners English language proficiency and competence.
  • Experience of providing timely, constructive, actionable feedback on learners work.
  • Ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to learners of varying ages and from diverse backgrounds
  • Fluent command of written and spoken English
  • Awareness of, and commitment to, inclusive practices in the classroom.
  • Evidence of being able to work collaboratively with colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds to deliver an excellent student experience.

Desirable criteria

  • TEFL-Q status according to British Council accreditation guidelines (e.g. Cambridge DELTA/Trinity DipTESOL or PGCE in relevant subject)
  • Postgraduate degree, preferably in TESOL/Applied Linguistics or other relevant area
  • Experience of teaching on university-based EAP courses, preferably on pre-sessional courses
  • Current DBS clearance.
