Captiva Learning part of Impact Futures Group are seeking experienced and values-driven Level 6 Youth Work Marker to assess learner submissions for our national Level 6 Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified youth work professional with higher education assessment experience to contribute to the development of apprentices across the sector while working flexibly from home.

The salary banding is £35-40k DOE 

The Role:

As a Youth Work Marker, you will assess learner assignments ranging from 1,250–3,500 words, ensuring all work aligns with youth work standards, university regulations, and best practice in apprenticeship and adult education. You will apply provided assessment rubrics, complete plagiarism and AI checks using Turnitin, and provide clear, developmental feedback that promotes reflective practice and professional growth. Typical marking volumes range from 20–50 assignments per batch, with agreed turnaround deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply level-specific rubrics to ensure progression from foundational (Level 4) to strategic practice (Level 6)
  • Provide actionable, inclusive feedback that links to NOS, sector policy (e.g., NYA, UNCRC), and supports apprentice development
  • Check similarity reports, word counts, referencing (Harvard), and practice evidence authenticity; flagging any integrity issues
  • Complete marking within deadlines, typically handling 20-50 assignments per batch

About You

Essential Criteria:
Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (ideally in Youth Work, Community Development, or related field)
  • JNC-recognised professional youth work qualification

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven higher education marking/assessment experience, with knowledge of youth work standards.
  • Strong understanding of UK youth work sector, including NOS, rights-based practice (UNCRC), safeguarding, and ethical dilemmas.
  • Excellent command of English, Harvard referencing, and Canvas/Turnitin proficiency.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience as an Internal or External Examiner or Moderator in youth/community work programmes
  • HEA Fellowship or teaching qualification
  • Recent practice experience

  • Flexible and adaptable to varying assignment demands, deadlines, while maintaining consistent standards aligned with NOS and NYA validation requirements.
