Researcher in E-mobility in prosumer environments

Do you want a position where you can play a key role in strengthening and extending DTUs research into e-mobility and its role in prosumer environments? DTU Wind is seeking a Researcher within E-mobility to join the Section for E-mobility and Prosumers in the Power and Energy Systems (PES) Division.

The researcher will contribute to expanding the university’s E-mobility research into new and emerging areas. This includes investigating how electric vehicles (EVs) support and interact with other energy resources in prosumer environments—ranging from smart homes to large-scale energy communities.

Responsibilities and qualifications

The position focuses on strengthening and expanding DTU’s research within e‑mobility and its interaction with consumer‑level energy environments. The responsibilities are organized into three interconnected core areas:

  1. Advancing Research in E‑mobility
  • Conduct research on emerging e‑mobility areas, including EV interaction with prosumer energy systems and native EMS.
  • Develop and utilize experimental infrastructures and real‑world testing environments in collaboration with industry partners.
  • Demonstrate recognized research excellence through citations, invited talks, or similar academic merits.

      2. Enhancing Research‑Based Education

  • Integrate research insights, methods, and real industrial challenges into PES teaching and supervision.
  • Provide students and staff with tools and facilities that support research‑driven learning and student innovation.
  • Deliver high‑quality teaching acknowledged by students for clarity, relevance, and engagement.

      3. Strengthening Research Collaboration and Impact

  • Build and maintain collaborations with companies, organizations, and public stakeholders.
  • Engage students in research projects, living labs, and applied environments with industry relevance.
  • Engage in research‑based advisory work where it aligns with the research goals and strategic priorities of the division and DTU.

In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to project coordination, fundraising efforts, and the promotion of DTU’s research activities. The role includes supervision of MSc and PhD students as well as active participation in teaching, collaboration, and proposal development that strengthens the growth of the Section for E‑mobility and Prosumers.

Your Qualifications:

Required

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field with a strong foundation in power and energy systems.
  • Proficiency in modeling, optimization, control, simulation, and data analysis for assessing e‑mobility impacts, integration strategies, and system‑level performance.
  • Experience with laboratory work and experimental setups.
  • Experience with university‑level teaching and supervision of MSc or PhD students, or clear potential to take on such tasks.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of EV technologies and their interactions with energy resources such as battery energy storage systems (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • Documented research contributions within e‑mobility, energy systems, or related fields (e.g., peer‑reviewed publications, invited talks, research dissemination).
  • Proven experience participating in collaborative research projects, including roles such as Work Package Leader, key technical contributor, or similar.
  • Experience contributing to successful research funding applications (national or international).
  • Experience collaborating with industry partners on research questions, experimental work, or data‑driven studies.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is for 3 years.
