Opportunity
The successful candidate will work within University IT alongside well-established infrastructure, systems and operations teams and will have a key role in support the for the technical services which underpin the University’s Email and Collaborative tools – focusing primarily on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights. They will have an opportunity to learn highly transferrable skills supporting and developing key Microsoft technology pivotal to the institutions business.
You
You will have administrative experience of large scale IT systems in a large organisation, either in a technical support or development role. You will be an advanced user of Microsoft tools, and either be an expert in supporting these technologies, or have a demonstrable interest in moving your technical expertise into this area.
You will have had experience of dealing with external suppliers who provide Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SaaS based solutions.
You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced academic environment and will be a key member of the wider IT team within which you will be expected to build strong, effective working relationships.
You will be expected to develop your expertise in the technologies that you work with and will support the transition of services to operational teams as required. The role will require you to prioritise and manage your workload effectively and respond promptly to new requirements where necessary.
The role will provide the right candidate with opportunities to develop new skills and to focus on specialist areas.
The role holder will work as part of a professional service delivery team dedicated to the provision of an efficient, effective and quality driven Information Technology service to staff and students within the Corporate, Administrative, Academic Research and Learning and Teaching functions of the University.
The role holder will provide a highly professional, friendly and customer focused face to the services offered by Information Services.
The role holder will support internal teams and external partners to develop, maintain and provide technical support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights solutions. This will involve assisting with requirements, reviewing solutions provided by partners, developing and maintaining in-house solutions and responding to support requests as required.
The role holder will take responsibility for:-
The specification, design, development, integration, testing and documentation of large or complex systems, selecting the most appropriate design standards, methods and tools consistent with agreed enterprise and solution architectures and ensure they are applied effectively. You will review others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology. You will contribute to policies for the selection of architecture components. You will evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major design options and assess and manage associated risks. You will ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements.
The specification of user/system interfaces, including validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls. You will assess associated risks, and specify recovery routines and contingency procedures. You will assist with the translation of logical designs into physical designs.
The maintenance of application support processes, and check that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. You will use application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports.
The role may also involve the line-management and leadership of staff supporting technical and functional solutions and/or services in the role-holder’s technical domain.

This post is full-time and fixed-term for 12 months, to cover a period of maternity leave.
Salary range: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6).
