Salary from £43,277 to £51,714 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance

This is a fixed term appointment for two years

The Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment is a world-leading centre for the study of the economics and social sciences of climate change and other global environmental problems, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

The Research Manager will play a central role in supporting and strengthening the Institute’s research funding and outputs activity. Working closely with academic colleagues and the Institute’s Senior Management Team, the post holder will oversee the development and submission of high-quality, competitive research funding applications, providing expert advice on funding opportunities and processes.

The role will involve project-managing complex grant applications, ensuring compliance with funder and School requirements, and contributing directly to the development and quality assurance of proposals. The post holder will also lead on the management and reporting of research outputs, ensuring compliance with open access, data management and regulatory requirements, and supporting the promotion of responsible and ethical research practices.

In addition, the Research Manager will develop and deliver training and guidance for researchers, build strong working relationships across LSE and with external stakeholders, and provide management information to inform strategic planning and decision-making.

Candidates should have:

• Experience of supporting and drafting collaborative research funding applications within a Higher Education environment or equivalent;
• Current knowledge of research grants, funding opportunities and the funding landscape;
• Proven experience of effective delivery of projects and proposals within an academic institution or a similar environment;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English including a high level of accuracy and a proven ability to write reports and grant applications to a high standard;
