Birmingham Newman University is looking to appoint an inspiring and self-motivated academic leader to take on the role of Head of School – Arts, Humanities and Human Sciences.

The School of Arts, Humanities and Human Sciences is comprised of five subject areas including Counselling and Psychotherapy, Humanities, Psychology, Sport and the University’s Foundation Year provision. The School also works with a number of partners. The University and the School are committed to delivering research informed teaching. Many staff within the School are active researchers and contribute to the University’s research profile.
This strategic leadership position will build on the success of the School and will be responsible for shaping the future vision, direction, and growth of the School. The successful candidate will provide academic leadership, foster innovation in teaching and research, and build strong partnerships both within the institution and externally.
The successful candidate will line manage the Heads of Subject and other relevant staff. They will develop and build on strategic relationships with practice partners including securing placements as well as developing educational commissions and appropriate partnerships, research and income generation opportunities. The role includes liaison with appropriate Professional Statutory Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) and stakeholders to ensure all provision is in line with University and PSRB requirements.
The new Head of School will work directly with the Executive Dean, leading and managing the School to deliver the University’s vision and mission.
