As Impact & Knowledge Exchange Manager, you will raise the profile of research findings externally and support knowledge exchange for each School in the Faculty of Business & Law, or the Faculty of Science.

You will be responsible for strengthening the relationship with organisations/employers by working closely with them to develop knowledge exchange opportunities in relation to research, professional development and best practice.

You will also keep abreast of latest policy developments concerning impact and knowledge exchange, and convey this to academics in relation to specific disciplines (in order to encourage discipline-appropriate impact and knowledge exchange activities) and report on knowledge exchange and other activities as appropriate to satisfy reporting requirements - such as REF and HEBCIS.

You will play a critical role in Birkbeck’s preparations for REF 2029 by undertaking fact-finding and other strategic interventions to support the preparation of and documentary evidence for selected REF case studies, and then directly support the academic lead in order to construct the narrative.

You will also provide high-level professional advice and support to the ongoing development and implementation of approaches to enhance research impact, reputation, and engagement.

This post represents a unique opportunity to develop cradle-to-grave knowledge of the entire knowledge exchange and impact journey, beginning with supporting academics applying for funding to ensure impact and knowledge exchange is effectively embedded into their ideas - then supporting those ideas to develop to fruition with external stakeholders and collating the evidence that change has been achieved to narrate these stories for REF.

To succeed in this role you need to have a solid understanding of the research process and its translation outside the academy; a proven track record in impact, knowledge exchange and/or public engagement and strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, working creatively and collaboratively to produce meaningful change.

You will also be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience.
