About The Role

In this dynamic radiography role, you’ll work hands on with state of the art CT and MRI technology—including specialist areas such as cardiac MRI—to deliver exceptional imaging for patients, research volunteers, and clinical trial participants. You’ll play a key part in developing advanced protocols, improving image quality, and supporting innovative research across Swansea University and Swansea Bay University Health Board.

As MR Responsible Person and Radiation Protection Supervisor, you’ll lead on safety, governance, and best practice, championing a positive safety culture across the facility. You’ll also support training, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with physicists, clinicians, and researchers to drive imaging forward.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking Imaging Facility that integrates advanced clinical imaging with high impact research and clinical trials. In this role, you will deliver high quality CT and MRI examinations across clinical, research, and specialist settings, including cardiac MRI. You will provide exceptional care to patients, volunteers, and clinical trial participants—conducting safety screening, offering clear explanations, monitoring during procedures, and ensuring safe, supportive discharge. You will also perform IV cannulation and administer pharmaceuticals where appropriate.

You will play a key role in maintaining and improving image quality, identifying and reducing MRI artefacts, and working closely with MRI physicists on advanced protocols such as radiotherapy planning and spectroscopy. You will liaise with scanner vendors, support applications training, and ensure ancillary equipment remains safe and fit for purpose.

Operationally, you will help manage daily workflow, support quality assurance processes, and ensure compliance with SOPs, governance frameworks, and safety policies.

As MR Responsible Person for MRI and Radiation Protection Supervisor for CT, you will lead on safety, uphold Local Rules, and contribute to a strong, proactive safety culture.

The role also includes significant training and developmental responsibilities. You will support staff induction, training, and appraisal processes; supervise junior radiographers, students, and research staff; and maintain effective communication across the facility and with external collaborators.

Working with researchers from Swansea University, Swansea Bay University Health Board, and wider partners, you will contribute to protocol development, ensure accurate documentation, support clinical trial imaging, and assist in securing external research funding.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist expertise while contributing to impactful clinical and research outcomes within a collaborative, innovative environment.

If you’re motivated, curious, and ready to expand your expertise in a fast moving, research active environment, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
