We are seeking to appoint two NMC-registered nurses to the roles of University Practitioner or Senior University Practitioner within the Department of Nursing. One post will require an adult nursing background. The second post will require a nursing background in any of the following specialisms: Adult, Child, Mental Health or Learning Disability.
These posts offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to our established nursing programmes, including apprenticeship and blended learning routes, and will play a key role in the launch of our new BSc (Hons) Primary, Community and Social Care Nursing route, commencing in September 2026.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape a novel, future-facing nursing route aligned with the national direction towards integrated, community-based care, with our University among the first to deliver this.
You will join a supportive, forward-thinking and diverse academic team delivering pre- and post-registration nursing programmes across adult, child, mental health and learning disability fields. We are committed to high-quality, practice-relevant education, strong partnerships with healthcare providers, and an excellent experience for our diverse student body.
Based primarily in the Daphne Steele Building, a state-of-the-art facility designed to the WELL Building Standard, you will work in an environment that promotes collaboration, wellbeing, and innovation in teaching and learning.
These roles will contribute to teaching, learning, assessment and student support across our pre-registration nursing provision, with a central focus on supporting the introduction and delivery of the new Primary, Community and Social Care Nursing route.
Committed to professional development, you will engage in scholarly activity to enhance your teaching and expand the body of knowledge within your area.
These posts are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Regular status checks may also be required, depending on your role.
As a Practitioner, we expect you to be actively engaged in practice alongside your University role, either through paid employment with another employer, paid consultancy or freelance work.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Leader, Top 100 Employer, Athena Swan Silver Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
Informal enquiries welcome to Donna Kemp on 01484 257542 or by email at d.j.kemp@hud.ac.uk.
