Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Health Economics to work with Associate Professor José Leal and Dr Marjan Walli-Attaei on a research programme focused on the economics of cardiovascular disease prevention and chronic disease modelling. Funded by the European Society of Cardiology, the successful candidate will join the Health Economics and Policy Evaluation Group within the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS), contributing to research focused primarily on cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other chronic conditions. The work uses large datasets to assess the impact of chronic diseases on healthcare costs and health outcomes, and to model the long-term effects of interventions on survival, quality of life, and resource use.

The successful applicant will join a rapidly expanding group of more than 30 health economists undertaking applied and methodological research across a range of health conditions and healthcare settings in the UK and internationally, working closely with multidisciplinary teams within NDPCHS and across the University of Oxford, as well as with collaborators at partner institutions internationally. Responsibilities will include undertaking economic evaluations and disease modelling, analysing complex datasets, and contributing to publications, reports for funders, and conference presentations. An example project involves identifying cardiovascular disease prevention interventions through literature review and Delphi expert consensus, and modelling their long-term costs across European health systems to 2070.

You will hold, or be close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in Health Economics, Economics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Health Data Science, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline, and will have experience in health economics, disease modelling, health technology assessment, or a related area, together with strong quantitative and analytical skills. Experience conducting economic evaluations and analysing complex datasets using statistical software such as R, Stata, or Python is essential.

You will be based in the Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

The position is funded by the European Society of Cardiology for one year in the first instance.

For further information or discuss the post please contact Associate Professor José Leal (jose.leal@phc.ox.ac.uk) and Dr Marjan Walli-Attaei (marjan.walli-attaei@phc.ox.ac.uk).
