The University of Reading is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Student Fees Manager to lead the administration and continuous improvement of tuition fee processes within Student Services.

Tuition fee income is a vital part of the University’s operations. In this role, you will ensure that students, sponsors and external stakeholders receive a high-quality, accurate and transparent service throughout the student lifecycle—from fee setup and billing to resolving complex cases.

About the role

You will manage the administration of student fee data and processes, ensuring fees are correctly set, charged and aligned with University policy. You will play a key role in enhancing systems, improving processes, and delivering a service that supports an excellent student and stakeholder experience.

Working closely with colleagues across Student Services, Finance, and academic departments, you will:

  • Oversee accurate tuition fee billing and resolve complex or non-standard cases
  • Analyse and interpret data to identify issues, trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders including the Student Loans Company, sponsors, and embassies
  • Ensure accurate submission and maintenance of student finance data and course information
  • Contribute to policy development and provide expert advice on tuition fee regulations and processes
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and support system developments

You will also line manage a Student Fees and Funding Administrator, supporting their development while ensuring high-quality service delivery.

About you

You will bring strong analytical capability, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be confident working with complex data and systems and able to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working with large, complex data sets and systems
  • Strong Excel and IT skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of managing or supervising staff
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience of improving processes or implementing system changes

A good understanding of the UK Student Loans system and financial administration processes would be advantageous.

Why join us?

You will join a collaborative and supportive team that plays a critical role in the student experience. This is an opportunity to shape and improve key processes, influence policy, and make a meaningful impact across the University.

Additional information

This is a full-time, permanent role. Some weekend working may be required during peak periods such as Open Days and Welcome Week.

This role is campus based, although there may be some opportunity for working from home with line management approval.
