Job description:
The School of Education at the University of Sheffield is seeking to appoint an innovative and forward-thinking University Teacher for a fixed term contract.
In this teaching-focused position, you will coordinate, design and deliver teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across the School of Education, in particular on the BA/BSc Politics, Philosophy and Economics, BA Social Sciences and MA Social Research.
We are particularly seeking candidates with a background in either quantitative or qualitative research in the social sciences, and in the interdisciplinary study of philosophy, politics and economics. You will have a PhD in a social sciences discipline or related subject area, proven teaching and supervision experience and administrative skills.
With strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to an excellent student experience, you will join a diverse, world-class group of research and teaching staff.
We are seeking candidates with a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, as well as significant knowledge and expertise in quantitative OR qualitative research methods, aligned to a disciplinary lens in Social Sciences and/or an interdisciplinary focus on Philosophy, Politics and Economics. As this role involves designing teaching programmes for modules and delivering teaching courses, you will also need experience/knowledge of proven teaching ability in Higher Education, ideally with a recognised teaching qualification.
You will possess knowledge and expertise in specific statistical programmes (e.g. R, Stata) as well as the ability to use online teaching environments (for example Blackboard) effectively.
