Applications are invited for two Specific Purpose Contract Lecturing positions in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the School of Engineering at University of Galway. The School is seeking suitably qualified candidates with expertise aligned to two posts: Post 1 in Electrical Engineering, analogue and digital control systems, dynamic systems, and circuit design; and Post 2 in Embedded Systems, Embedded programming and circuit design. Applicants must specify whether they are applying for Post 1, Post 2, or both.
The appointees will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, programme development, student project supervision, and administrative activities across programmes such as Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Intelligent Robotics, and Medical Electronics. Primary teaching responsibilities will include areas such as power electronics, analogue and digital electronics, robotics, and medical electronics, though may extend to other areas depending on the needs of the School. The successful candidates will support the ongoing delivery and development of high-quality teaching and help prepare students for careers in a rapidly evolving engineering sector.
The appointees will also contribute to research activity within Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which has established strengths in Power Electronics, Medical Electronics, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Computational Imaging, Embedded Systems, Visual Media Enhancement, and Communications. The successful candidates will collaborate with colleagues across the School, the College of Science and Engineering, and associated research institutes, and will be expected to demonstrate the potential to develop a strong research programme and engage in collaborative research, including with industry.
Candidates must hold a primary degree and PhD in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline. They should have experience in third-level teaching, teaching support, or student supervision, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. The roles require a commitment to academic administration, strong communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to build effective collaborations within the university and with external partners. A commitment to engagement with industry, particularly in collaborative research, is also essential.
