The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Lecturer in Craft to teach across our UG and PGT Craft programmes. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a material-led, experimental curriculum that embraces a thinking-through-making approach.

This is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner-educator who is passionate about contemporary craft, pedagogy and supporting students to develop confident, individual practices.

Applicants should have a well‑established national or international practice in contemporary jewellery and/or metalsmithing, demonstrated through recognised professional achievement. They must also be able to demonstrate knowledge of wider craft practices across multiple making disciplines. An emerging record of academic/creative/cultural leadership is essential, which may include leading educational programmes, developing curriculum, initiating and directing research or practice‑based projects, and mentoring both staff and students or diverse stakeholders.

Applicants must evidence an understanding of contemporary issues influencing Craft, including sustainability, social impact, craft futures, and educational contexts. Knowledge and competency in advanced making skills and/or Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) software is desirable.
