The role
The University of Bristol Law School is a leading UK law school with an international reputation for outstanding teaching and research. Housed in the iconic Wills Memorial Building with additional premises close by in elegant Berkeley Square, the University of Bristol Law School represents a unique blend of tradition and innovation, offering an educational experience which challenges and empowers students and a research environment in which academic originality and excellence flourish.
The successful applicants will contribute fully to the life of the School supporting teaching on the LLB, LLM and MA in Law programmes, providing tutorial, lecture and seminar teaching and related administration. These are teaching-focused posts which do not require an obligation to engage in academic research and are located upon Career Pathway 3 of the University of Bristol’s academic pathway.
What will you be doing?
The Law School seeks to recruit two Teaching Associates on temporary fixed term contracts for the 26/27 academic year who possess demonstrable ability to teach within at least three subject areas of the school’s degree programmes, with one post to include Criminal Law and the other Banking Law and Finance Services. You will also undertake formative and summative assessment submissions, extending to undergraduate research projects and taught postgraduate dissertations, providing oral and/or written feedback to students.
You should apply if
If you possess a good honours degree or equivalent in law (for example, Graduate Diploma in Law); a postgraduate degree in law or a law-related subject (or be working towards one); or equivalent professional qualification or experience we would like to hear from you.
Relevant experience of successful teaching or tutoring at university level or equivalent; ability to carry out academic administrative duties effectively; and excellent written and oral communication skills is an essential requirement.
Interviews will be held on the 21st July with the posts being available from 31st August 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post available is full-time; however, the School is open to requests for part-time working.
The post is located on Pathway Three (Profile a) of the University’s Academic Pathways
