Learning Support Officer

Engineering College of Technology

Engineering College of Technology (ECT) is a United Kingdom higher education provider delivering industry-focused engineering and technology education to students both within the UK and internationally.

ECT works closely with industry partners and academic stakeholders to deliver practical, career-focused higher education programs designed to meet the evolving needs of the engineering sector. The institution forms part of the broader EIT/ECT global education network and is committed to delivering high-quality student experiences, strong academic outcomes, and supportive learning environments.

ECT places a strong emphasis on student engagement, academic progression, student wellbeing, and graduate success, with a focus on continuous improvement and alignment with UK higher education sector expectations and Office for Students (OfS) requirements.

Role Overview

The Learning Support Officer plays a key role in supporting student engagement, academic progression, retention, and overall student success across ECT’s UK Higher Education provision.

The role combines traditional Learning Support Officer responsibilities with Personal Academic Tutoring and student success functions, ensuring students receive proactive academic guidance, engagement monitoring, learning support, and referral to specialist services where appropriate.

Working closely with Programme Leaders, lecturers, student services, and academic leadership, the Learning Support Officer supports students throughout their academic journey and contributes to ECT’s student continuation, achievement, wellbeing, and student outcomes objectives in alignment with UK higher education sector expectations and Office for Students (OfS) conditions of registration.

This role requires a stronger academic and student development focus than traditional learning support or administrative support positions and therefore requires prior higher education experience and the ability to provide academic guidance and student progression support within a UK higher education environment.
