Acting as a strategic advisor and operational lead to the Vice-Chancellor, the Chief of Staff will play a critical role at the heart of the Institution during a period of substantial institutional change and strategic evolution. The postholder will lead the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, ensuring the effective coordination, alignment and delivery of executive priorities. They will act as a trusted extension of the Vice-Chancellor’s office, overseeing executive operations, supporting governance and committee structures, and enabling timely, high-quality decision-making across the University.

The role requires exceptional judgement, discretion, and the ability to operate with credibility at the most senior levels. The Chief of Staff will act as an integrator across complex and interconnected workstreams, ensuring that strategic initiatives are effectively prioritised, aligned, and delivered. They will facilitate communication between senior leadership and the wider institution, coordinate critical projects, and act as a key point of escalation for sensitive or complex issues.

Working closely with members of the University Executive and senior stakeholders across King’s, the Chief of Staff will drive a culture of collaboration, transparency and delivery. They will oversee business planning and budgeting processes within the Executive portfolios, manage key relationships, and support the Vice-Chancellor in advancing institutional priorities and responding to emerging challenges.

King’s is seeking an outstanding individual with a proven ability to operate effectively in complex environments, of building trusted relationships, and influencing at the highest levels. The successful candidate will bring strong strategic insight, exceptional organisational and communication skills, and the resilience and judgement required to manage competing priorities and sensitive matters with confidence.
