An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Health and Safety Technician to join University Safety Services.
As part of a central team of health and safety professionals, you will play a key role in safeguarding the wellbeing of our staff, students, and visitors across the University’s diverse estate and activities.
Working collaboratively across a wide range of stakeholders, you will provide professional technical advice and support the continuous improvement of the University’s Health and Safety Management System.
Key duties of the role include supporting the team in the development, management, implementation, and monitoring of the H&S Management System Co-ordinate and deliver the University’s laboratory inspection process.
In line with the evolving nature of safety service requirements, the above key responsibilities are not exhaustive, and changes to the content of the role may occur over time in line with service needs and priorities, in consultation with the post holder.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a minimum of a degree in a scientific discipline, or a minimum of a Level 3 (QCF) qualification in a scientific discipline with demonstrable experience and a basic but recognised Health and Safety qualification, e.g. IOSH Managing Safely. Previous practical experience of working in a laboratory where hazardous substances are handled is also essential.
This full-time post is available from 6 August 2026 on an indefinite basis.
