Do you want to be part of a pioneering clinical research team that is focused on mental illness and dementia care studies? If yes, then this exciting opportunity may be ideal.

KMMS wishes to recruit a Research Fellow to contribute to building a research profile for KMMS and the collaborating universities. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of clinical research across a range of studies in mental illness and dementia; including the testing and delivery of a new support system for people living with dementia and their family carers in areas of high health inequalities and with under-served groups. You will contribute to the development of new research projects, support ethics applications, and provide mentorship and guidance to research staff.

The role is open to suitably qualified individuals who have a record of research publications in a relevant field of research and scholarship.

This role will involve working on both the University of Kent and the Canterbury Christ Church University campuses in Canterbury and Medway as well as working virtually and at other clinical sites across Kent and Medway.

As a Research Fellow you can expect to be involved in:

  • Using experience in current clinical practice, engaging in individual and collaborative research and scholarship leading to high-quality publications and academic excellence, and developing income from research, enterprise, or corporate engagement individually or in collaboration with others
  • Writing or contributing to publications or disseminating research findings using other appropriate media
  • Delivering high-quality teaching and student supervision to undergraduate BM BS students in KMMS, such as acting as Personal Academic Tutor to students, participating in MMIs and OSCEs as an examiner, and supervising students undertaking Student Selected Components (SSCs) and Individual Research Projects 

What will you bring to the role?

  • A primary medical qualification and full registration with the GMC, with a current licence to practise
  • Current clinical practice and commitment to remain in clinical practice for the duration of the KMMS contract
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and their application
