Bioscience Impact and Innovation Manager

Location: Central Cambridge 

The School of Biological Sciences is seeking to appoint a Bioscience Impact and Innovation Manager to play a central role in shaping how the School's research translates into meaningful societal, economic and policy impact. Working closely with senior academic leadership, you will work in partnership across the full breadth of the biological sciences, supporting the development of strategically important Research Focus Areas and helping to align emerging ideas with the School's broader research, engagement and impact priorities. 

This role requires a high degree of intellectual engagement and interpersonal sensitivity. You will spend significant time working directly with academics, listening to early stage ideas, proactively drawing connections across conversations, and helping to shape concepts over time. You will need to be comfortable working within the formative and iterative stages of idea development, where concepts evolve over multiple meetings and weeks, as well as the later stakeholder engagement and impact delivery work. 

The post holder will play a fundamental role in scoping and developing a portfolio of external stakeholders and opportunities for partnership and impact investment. The work will underpin larger outcomes, including major funding bids, strategic partnerships, policy engagement and longer-term societal impact. 

The successful candidate will bring experience of working at the interface between research and external stakeholders, with a strong understanding of knowledge exchange, partnership development and the research funding landscape. You will be credible across a wide range of scientific disciplines, able to synthesise complex discussions over time, and confident operating with senior academics in a facilitative and influencing role. Above all, you will combine strategic awareness with the judgement and interpersonal skill to shape direction, build momentum and translate emerging ideas into impactful, outward-facing programmes of work. 

Limited funding: The funds for this post are available for 4 years in the first instance.
